IP67
The IP67 code is a degree of protection defined by the IEC 60529 standard, which assesses the degree of protection of equipment against solids and liquids. It is correct that the number 6 indicates complete dust tightness, ensuring that no dust particles can penetrate the equipment. The number 7, on the other hand, certifies that the equipment can withstand temporary immersion in water, generally up to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. This IP67 certification is therefore ideal for marine electric motors, as it guarantees protection against humidity, splashes, and accidental immersion in difficult maritime environments.
In addition, it is important to note that the IP code does not guarantee protection against water under high pressure (such as powerful water jets), which would be covered by a higher degree of protection, such as IP68, which provides better protection against prolonged immersions at greater depths.
For marine environments, where engines are often exposed to humidity, salt water, and extreme conditions, an IP67 certified motor is particularly well suited, guaranteeing increased durability under these conditions.
